You can wear these boots with confidence in mid February when the winter chill is at its worst.

The BOA lacing system is also a big benefit. You can be in and out of these boots in a matter of seconds. When you are changing into these boots from your shoes, you do not want to expose your feet to the cold too long.

That is why most adventure boots are made with speed or BOA lacing systems.

The outsole of this pair of boots is quite solid and rugged. They have the DynoLITE sole. It has good treads and is light in weight at the same time.

When you are trudging out there in the snow, you don’t want to have a lot of weight on your feet.

The shoes come almost broken. They have a flex rating of medium. While they are not fully broken, you can wear them immediately out of the box.

They will conform to your feet soon after. They also come true to size, so know your size when ordering.

What we like

  • Boots have a warranty of 3 years
  • They are stylish and good-looking
  • Soft enough to be worn without breaking them in
  • Light in weight

What we don’t like

  • Some people have complained that the boots may not be true to size

The interior of these boots is indeed endearing. They have been lined with fleece, which helps retain the heat that your feet generate while at the same time letting out any moisture if your feet sweat.

Whether you are a beginner or an advanced snowboarder, you will love the ease of use that these boots come with.

The features that this boot comes with show that it is made for a man on the move. For example, with a single turn of a dial, you can have the lacing loose or tight.

BOA coiler lacing is one of the best inventions of our time when it comes to footwear.

For comfort, you get features such as the EVA liner and insole that conforms to the shape of your feet. It will support your pressure points well and it can keep you snowboarding for longer.

A women’s version of these boots is also available. The liner will help with temperature regulation.

What we like

  • Strong synthetic for the upper part
  • Available in black, white/red and blue colors
  • Very comfortable
  • Advanced lacing system

What we don’t like

  • Warranty is for just 12 months

3. K2 Maysis Boots for Snowboarding

The price is a bit high for this pair of snowboarding boots. However, it has features, which we feel more than justify that price. It is a very functional pair of boots and with good care, it should last you several seasons of snow adventures.

Comfort is paramount in a boot made for the snow. Thankfully, the K2 Maysis is not lacking. The inside is lined with a type of Intuition Control Foam.

This medium-density foam conforms to the shape of your feet. With this kind of insole, you can snowboard for longer without feeling the strain on your feet.

The boots have been made with a high quality Vibram Pro Light Outsole. Vibram is one of the best names out here in the market when it comes to outsoles for hiking, camping, running and other adventure boots.

This sole is both durable and light in weight, a killer combination that every person who loves mountain sport should go for.

The boot has a flex rating of 4. This makes it a tad bit stiffer than almost all the boots that we have reviewed here.

However, to compensate for that, it also has an articulating cuff that makes it easy to flex your foot. Moving and maneuvering in this pair of boots is ever so easy.

What we like

  • BOA coiler system for lacing is very effective
  • BOA Conda system for locking your heel into place
  • High quality construction for upper, sole and sides

What we don’t like

  • The price is high
  • Velcro fastener for the liner does not hold very well in vigorous movement

4. 5th Element ST-1 Boots For Snowboarding

5th Element ST-1 Snowboard Boots 2020-9.0
  • Performance Boots for Performance Riding - The ST-1 boots are designed for boarders with an intermediate to advanced skill level who want to ride the whole mountain.
  • Rider-Friendly Flex - A softer boot flex is more forgiving and less rigid than stiff boots.
  • Custom Comfort - The boots synthetic shell offers great support to your feet, and it comes with a Comfort EVA Liner that is removable.
  • Find Your Fit - Traditional laces are used to help fine tune your fit for optimal riding all day long.
  • Go-Anywhere Type Boots - The ST-1s are favorite for park riders due to their soft flex, but are great for riding groomed slopes as well.

You might think that the best snowboarding boots are the most expensive ones. However, sometimes you just don’t have the high budget.

Thankfully, you can buy a good pair of boots such as the 5th Element ST-1 Boots. They are affordable but with good care, they can last you a long time.

Nonetheless, price is not everything in a snowboard boot. These boots also pack quite a handful of features.

You will get amiable flex with this boot. It has been designed with a Rider Friendly Flex technology. It makes it soft enough without affecting the quality.

It makes movement as well as maneuverability on the snowboard much easier and faster.

The exterior of the shoes is made with a synthetic shell. This also contributes to the overall low weight of the boot. In the interior of the boots, we get a removable liner made with ComfortEVA. Both the interior and exterior of this pair of snowboarding shoes offers you incredible support.

These boots come with a traditional lacing system. It may not be fast enough for you especially if you are used to the BOA coiler kind of lacing. However, this one too has its benefits.

One of them is that it allows you to find the perfect fit. You can adjust it as much as you like until you attain your desired comfort level.

What we like

  • The price is very affordable
  • Removable liner is comfortable and keeps you warm
  • Soft upper with good flex rate

What we don’t like

  • May not come true to size, runs small

5. Head Rodeo Trace Boots

HEAD Unisex Rodeo Boa Trace Sole Freestyle Snowboard Boots, Black, 295
  • BOA LACING: The Boa lacing system allows a boot to be fastened with the turn of a dial and loosened in a snap: no more fumbling with laces in the cold.
  • COMFORT CUFF SYSTEM: It delivers added flex on the medial side of the boot for added comfort and a more natural flex.
  • TRACE OUTSOLE: The Trace sole provides supreme grip, dampening & stability for a rider’s foot; Centered rubber studs offer outstanding traction while the main frame provides superior foot support and stability.

What is not to like in this pair of boots? It looks incredibly good, is very well built and it appears to be breathable. Of course, this is a superficial view, but once you start digging for details, you will see that this boot has a lot to offer.

First, it comes with a traditional lacing system. This makes it is easy to loosen or tighten. In less than a minute, you can have it fastened snugly on your feet, or loosened enough to pull out of the boots with no effort at all.

To help you wear the boots easily, there is a Tongue Pull. This small feature is very convenient. It has been added for efficiency when you are wearing the shoes or getting out of them. If you pull and twist it to one side, your foot will slide right in.

The liner of these boots is a combination of fleece and foam. It is also removable for the warmer days when you feel that a pair of thick socks will suffice.

The TRACE outsole is durable and stable. Its rugged design offers you incredible grip and stability. The sole has centered studs for traction and it responds very well to sudden movements and turns.

If you are a beginner or an intermediate snowboarder, this type of boot is good for you.

What we like

  • Well built and comfortable on the feet
  • Good price for the boots
  • 12-month limited warranty

What we don’t like

  • It does not offer much customization option

Salomon Faction boots are popular for their perfect fit on your feet. These boots will conform to your feet without the need to break them in.

From the first glance, the boot looks quite likeable, what with the rugged sole and the upper textile part that looks so sleek. It can enhance your performance as well, as you will no doubt learn when you get on that snowboard.

You get a single dial BOA lacing system. It is very efficient at tightening the boots on your feet as well as loosening them up when you want to take them off.

In the interior, you will get a high quality Ortholite C1 Footbed/ insole. It is both comfortable and durable. At the same time, it keeps your feet well supported and the pressure points in the foot are well taken care of.

The D-Light Outsole makes things even better as it absorbs the shock such that you feel comfortable on any terrain.

  • Quick BOA lacing system
  • Affordable price
  • 12-month warranty

What we don’t like

  • Not fully customizable fit, but it is good

Best Snowboard Boots Buying Guide

Here are the most important considerations to bear in mind when you are buying a pair of snowboarding boots.

best snowboard boots

Lacing system

We feel that this is the main consideration for your snowboard shoes. There are three types of lacing for these boots. One of them is BOA lacing system. This one comes with a single, double or triple dial system. You can turn the dial to get the right fit. The double dial system is the most common.

The second lacing system is the traditional one. There is nothing fancy about this, but it is very effective. However, because of the work involved, you will pay less for a snowboarding shoe with such lacing.

The third type of lacing is speed lace system. Also called quick pull systems, you just pull to loosen or tighten. The problem comes in when the lace breaks as it can be costly to replace.

Custom liners vs. fixed liners

You can get either liner with your snowboarding boots, mostly depending on the amount of money you are ready to spend. However, a custom liner is the best of them all. If you can go for the heat-molded liners, get such as they are very comfortable.

However, do not try to mold them on your own at home. Take them to a cobbler so that they can be fitted right in your shoes. Custom liners are better than standard ones for obvious reasons. They may cost more, but they are worth every dime.

The footbeds

Just another name for insoles, again, you should always go for well-engineered footbeds as opposed to other types. While custom footbeds are not particularly measured out for you, they are engineered by a shoe technician. When you wear the shoes, they kind of conform to the natural shape of your feet.

Custom footbeds can come with foam, rubber or cork. All of these materials are popular because they conform to the shape of the feet.

You could also try binding footbeds, which are removable and you can shape them further to fit your feet in a much better way.

Wrapping up

Choosing the best snowboard boots will not be hard at all after reading this article. You have seen that there is a boot for every budget.

The ones with standard features cost less than the ones with customizable features.

In this light, it is better not to skimp on good features because of the cost.

If you can pay more and get more and better features, it would be more advisable in the long run.
